Most of our horses change during their time with us, their training is often on-going throughout their stay. Many start off unridable before becoming only suitable for very experienced people wishing to take on a project or before developing into a steady riding horse that can go on loan to a wider range of homes. We have steady hacks suitable for novices, horses who can go on to compete and everything in between.

For various reasons, some will require a specific environment for the rest of their lives - they are all individuals like us, with their own needs and skills to offer. For that reason, we feel the best first step for someone considering taking a Shy Lowen horse on loan is to contact us with details of what sort of horse or pony you are looking for, the level of experience you have, the type of home offered, etc. We will then be able to suggest which horse(s) might be suitable for you. If you would like to home one of our horses please send an email outlining what you want the horse to do, your experience level and, in the case of applying for a ridden horse, we need video footage of anyone who will ride the horse showing walk, trot and canter including the upward and downward transitions.

All of our horses belong to us for the rest of their lives, this provides a safety net for both the horse and you should circumstances change. They are only rehomed subject to a careful check, including of the location the horse will be kept, and to a written loan agreement. To avoid disappointment, please make sure you are happy with the terms of the contract before coming to meet a potential new horse. Individual horses may have specific needs - these will be made clear to you and will be incorporated into the agreement.
